The Rapier Paper Airplane Folding Instructions

  1. First take a rectangular A4 (8 1/2" by 11") sheet of paper and fold down the center dotted line on DIG. 1 opening it out again afterwards.

  2. Take the first 1cm (1/2") of the rectangular sheet and fold it up along the dotted line in DIG. 2.

  3. Fold the flap over and over until about 3/8 of the length of the sheet is folded in this concertina fashion as in DIG. 3 this should give a heavy and thick front lip.

  4. Now fold along the two dotted lines in DIG. 3 bringing the top edges into the center line and fold along the center line to give DIG. 4 as a side view.

  5. Fold the wings down along the dotted line in DIG. 4 one either side of the center. Now the plane should look like the diagram at the top of the page.

  1. Firstly fold the sheet in half along the line shown in DIG. 1 and then open it out again.

  2. Fold the two top corners in to the centre line to give the form in DIG. 2.

  3. Fold sheet in half vertically making the tip meet the base at the centre with the resulting form shown in DIG. 3.

  4. Fold flap A up and to the right and flap B up and to the left to give you DIG. 4.

  5. Fold along the dotted lines in DIG. 4 to give you DIG. 5. Now staple as shown in DIG. 5 to give you the diagram at the top of the page. It flies awfully. I have found a plane that looks similar to this but flies a lot better and will add it soon.

  1. Cut the tail out (see label on DIG. 1) and fold along the diagonal line creasing well.

  2. Now fold along the diagonal line on DIG. 2 creasing well.

  3. Now it should look like DIG. 3.

  4. Fold along the horizontal line on DIG. 4.

  5. Now push this form together to make the shape in DIG. 5.

  6. Fold the flaps over to form DIG. 6.

  7. Now fold along the dark grey lines in DIG. 7.

  8. Now fold it together as in DIG. 8. Place the tail so that the angle at the end is pressed right up into the nose.

  9. Now fold where the dotted line is in DIG. 9 under the wing trapping the tail in place.

  10. Now turn the plane over to give you the plane as shown at the top of the page.
